What happens when a group of determined kids takes on the most powerful newspaper publishers in New York City? You get Newsies—a thrilling, high-energy musical inspired by the true story of the 1899 Newsboys' Strike.
Filled with unforgettable songs, incredible dancing, humor, heart, and nonstop excitement, Newsies follows Jack Kelly and his band of newsboys as they discover the power of standing together and fighting for what's right. From the first note to the final curtain call, audiences will be swept into a world of big dreams, unlikely heroes, and inspiring courage.
Our talented young cast brings this beloved Disney musical to life with spectacular choreography, powerful vocals, and enough energy to light up the entire Southwest Valley.
Presented by South Valley Performing Arts in partnership with the Jordan Education Foundation and Advantage Arts Academy, this production is helping strengthen arts opportunities for youth throughout our community.

Welcome to Disney’s Newsies Jr., and thank you for joining South Valley Performing Arts for this incredible production!
At first glance, Newsies is an exhilarating musical filled with unforgettable songs, breathtaking choreography, and larger-than-life characters. But beneath the excitement is a timeless story about courage, unity, and the remarkable difference ordinary people can make when they choose to stand together. Inspired by the true Newsboys’ Strike of 1899, this production reminds us that no voice is too small and that young people have always possessed the power to create meaningful change.
That message resonates deeply all of us at South Valley Performing Arts. Our mission has always been about more than putting on a show. We strive to create a place where young people discover confidence, develop lasting friendships, learn the value of hard work, and realize that their talents can be used to uplift others. Every rehearsal has been an opportunity not only to grow as performers, but also as leaders, teammates, and compassionate individuals.
This production also marks an exciting milestone for our organization as one of our first seasons as a nonprofit. Through every performance, we are committed to making the performing arts more accessible to families in our community and to giving back whenever possible. We believe theater has the unique ability to inspire, connect, and strengthen communities, and we are grateful to share that vision with you.
